Our Awards

OralAI received 1st place at the International Science & Engineering Fair, a $5,000 total grand prize given to the top ~30 teams globally and top 2 projects in the Biomedical Engineering (ENBM) category. The Problem

Oral diseases have been on the rise, with it now being estimated that 45% of the global population, or 3.5 billion people, suffer from them (World Health Organization, 2022).

Dentist appointments can be sparse and expensive, leading to issues with dental hygiene being undiagnosed before it's too late. Additionally, many people don't go to the dentist due to fear or anxiety.

Poor dental health has been linked to the development of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and many other serious issues by studies in the past (Aida et al., 2011; Chung et al., 2019).

The Solution: OralAI

We propose a novel intraoral dental monitoring system consisting of three parts: an intraoral camera, full stack mobile application, and state-of-the-art AI model.

Intraoral Camera

A small, cost-effective camera is provided that allows you to take photos of your entire mouth, including behind your teeth, using UV-A light. This can be either bought online or provided by your dentist or insurance company.

Mobile App

A mobile app connects to your device, allowing you to monitor your oral health anywhere. This includes education on how to brush properly, and scans can be downloaded to be sent to dentists if necessary.

AI Model

With the use of custom trained state-of-the-art AI models, we can detect, analyze, and monitor your oral health. When an issue is detected, you are immediately alerted after your scan.

Who It's For

Consumers

People concerned about their oral health can use OralAI to help monitor possible issues with their dental hygiene.

Dentists

Dentists can recommend and provide patients with OralAI, giving them a way to both monitor patients' health and use the device for telemedicine.

Insurance

As OralAI helps prevent dental issues from arising, it can be given out for a discount or provided in consumers' plans to avoid paying for dental visits in the future.

Benefits

Localized, direct insights

Because we track each tooth during the full tooth scan, you can instantly see where you are brushing or flossing improperly, avoiding problems like cavities or gum diseases in the future.

Dentist communication

Our app will allow you to more effectively communicate problems with your oral health from the comfort of your own home.

Overall wellbeing

Studies have linked poor oral health to a higher likelihood to develop other, debilitating diseases, like cardiovascular disease and pneumonia (Mayo Clinic, 2021). Our device will help prevent these diseases from developing.

Save money

As our device is made to be affordable, using OralAI will help you save more in the future by avoiding dental appointments with proper oral health.

Our Story

OralAI was created by Ayush Garg and Divij Motwani. They are both passionate and hardworking students from Dublin and Palo Alto, CA, and have done extensive research in Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics in the past.
"We originally started this project because we were worried about our own oral health. After going to dentist appointments for checkups and dental fillings, we had an idea: how was there no way for us to easily check and monitor how we are brushing and flossing at home?"
